The Art of Fused Glass

This cranberry ashtray is meticulously handcrafted in my home studio using a multi-step kiln process. I begin by selecting and hand-cutting sheets of glass. The glass is fused in my kiln at approximately 1480°F, where the intense heat melds the colors into a seamless and glossy design. After cooling, I fire the glass a second time at around 1180°F, using a ceramic mold to shape the ashtray into its square form with two precisely crafted indentations. Each ashtray is made individually, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike—a testament to the care and craftsmanship behind every item.
